The North Atlantic can be fraught with hazards at anytime of year, but in the winter, even a calm sea can be a danger to ships. Captains often found themselves caught in pack ice, and had to quickly relay orders to have the sails furled to keep the ship still, avoiding more risk of crashing into large jagged sheets of ice. Framed with reclaimed western red cedar.
